Book Review #186: Sand and Sea by Ann D’Silva

Author: Ann D’Silva
Genre: Romance Fiction
Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

The first few pages which talk about the beautiful relationship between sand and sea piqued my interest to indulge more into the book. At first I thought it’s going to be a poetry or prose about sand and sea but I was surprised when the actual story started unfolding.

This is a story of a God-loving girl named Hannah who never shared a happy family and how she overcomes all her obstacles in her life. The story follows her quest of finding her soulmate who mysteriously appears in her dreams. She needs to unravel the mystery of this man of her dreams to find the answers to all her unsolicited questions.

The story at first is a bit difficult to get along but as it progresses everything seems to come together. This is a very unique kind of story and not like the regular romance stories that we read these days. The cover pic is so beautiful and the title is very apt for the story.

The writing style of the author is brilliant and I loved the way poems and prose are mixed beautifully. The story will definitely keep the readers hooked till the end. And I loved how the author has very cleverly hinted about the next book which is going to be about Maryam. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read Maryam’s story.

Book Review #175: Entangled Love by Nihar Sharma

Author: Nihar Sharma
Genre: Romance, fiction
Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Aditya and Samira the protagonists of the story share a bitter past. Destiny has entwined their lives once again after 6 years. Aditya is now engaged to Monika while Samira is still searching for answers to her unasked questions from the past.

Rajesh Chopra, Samira’s colleague has a crush on her but is unable to express himself in front of her. Then we see another character Sunil, Rajesh’s friend who unveils many hidden secrets from their past.

There are so many characters in this story and each character is linked to another in some way or the other. This is not a story which you haven’t heard before but I appreciate the effort taken by the author in bringing up this story. The characters Monika, Rajesh and Sunil bring a lot twists to the story.

What happened with Aditya and Samira?
Will Aditya and Samira reconcile?

You need to read the book to find out. I felt its quite difficult to get along with the story at few places. And also the editing could have been taken care a little more. Overall it was a good story.

Book Review #172: Bitten by Love by Vijaya Sandireddy

Author: Vijaya Sandireddy
Genre: Romance, fiction
Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

This is a simple and sweet story which revolves around two people who are completely different from each other. Anu is a lively and innocent girl who comes from a conservative family whereas Abhi is more of a matured person with a lot of responsibilities.

Abhi was bitten by love the moment he saw Anu in the traffic signal, just like you get to see in the Indian movies. He was elated to find Anu not only as a colleague but also as a partner for a pair programming task. They become friends and soon their relationship turned to love. Everything was smooth in their love story until one day when Abhi had to break up with her for reasons known to him alone.

The story is an emotional rollercoaster which takes you on a bumpy ride and makes you feel for the protagonists. It focuses on love, heartbreak, family, office life, friendship and much more. It was a very good read and the author has narrated the story very well.

It was heartbreaking to see the plight of Anu and Abhi during their break up phase and at the same time, it feels good to see how they overcome it. Their friends and fun-filled life makes you want to have such friends in your life as well. But I felt the ending was a bit rushed. Overall it was a pleasant read.

Book Review #170: In The Shadow of Inheritence by Manjiri Prabhu

Author: Manjiri Prabhu
Genre: Thriller, mystery
Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

When I first saw the book cover I thought it to be a romantic love story but I was surprised the moment I read the prologue and realised it is going to be much more intriguing than what I thought it to be. The story is a combination of love, thrill and mystery.

The story revolves around the main characters Tara, Rohini. Tara, an ambitious and cheerful girl is living an idyllic life in Kesarli with her mom Rohini and their governess Meerakka, who loves Rohini and Tara like her own daughters.

Tara wants to explore new things and new places beyond Kesarli. Her desire lands her in Panchagani where she is destined to discover her past and the secrets related to the alluring Rajwada which changes her life forever.

The story thus follows Tara’s journey towards unravelling the mystery related to Rajwada and her past. In this journey, she finds herself between strangers but the only thing that kept her determination strong was her newly found friend and love interest Sarang.

The story although has so many characters, not even for a minute I felt confused and all the characters are given equal importance by the author. The mystery and suspense are maintained brilliantly throughout the story that the readers will stay hooked until the end and just when you think you guessed the culprit, it turns to be someone else. The shocking climax is just cherry on the cake for the readers.

The places and the characters are described so magnificently by the author that you feel like you are actually living in those places. I liked the character of Tara and bonding between Sanika and Tara is so lovely. I couldn’t keep this book away for a minute until I completed reading it. Having read the author’s other books, I loved this just as much as I loved her other novels. I’m so glad I came across this book.

Book Review #165: Love Alive by Rijuta Gupta

Author: Rijuta Gupta
Genre: Fiction
Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

I was mesmerized when I saw the cover of this book so much that I grabbed this immediately and started reading. The story is weaved in such a way as to keep the readers interested throughout.

The story is about Udita, a mother of twin daughters Meera and Maya who is living a peaceful life with her husband Nipun and her daughters until one day when her past reappeared which is about to change her life and she has to make a crucial decision along with a song her relationships.

As the story starts I had a feeling that this story is about the twin sisters but as the story progresses it focuses on Udita’s past and her decisions which is affecting their present lives. The story has many other characters which are given equal importance in the story.

It becomes difficult at first with so many characters but as we get introduced to the various subplots it gets interesting. My only concern is that the cover pic is so beautiful but it has no relevance to the story whatsoever. Other than that the story will definitely keep the readers hooked till the end. Overall it was a good read.

Book Review #109: Age was…Just a Number by Shaheen Kazi

Author: Shaheen Kazi
Genre: Romance, Fiction
Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

What do you feel when the person you fall in love with is 17 years elder to you? Is it just an infatuation or is it true love?

The same thing happened with Sameera, a 15-year-old teenager who fell in love with James, the 32-year-old neighbour. It was love at first sight for Sameera but does James feel the same for her?

Teenage love and most importantly the first love is always special for anyone. Sameera too was very content with her first love but soon her love life came crashing down and is left heartbroken.

Will she recover from this heartbreak?
Will she ever meet her true love?
Or will Sameera and James cross paths again?

The story is a perfect example to show that age doesn’t matter as long as its true love. And it focuses on haste decisions that teenagers take especially when they misunderstand their infatuation or crush to be love.

The story is narrated very beautifully and all the characters are given equal importance. I loved the character of Harpreet, Sameera’s friend. The pace of the story is decent and the language is simple and lucid.

I liked the book and I recommend everyone to give this book a read.

The author has narrated the story very beautifully and the story is very interesting and I liked the characters if KJ and Param very much. The ending was very good for me. It has a lot of adult stuff too so I wouldn’t recommend it to children. The book is a short read and you can finish it in one sitting.
